Tonatiuh Picture

A simple interpretation of Tonatiuh, the Mexicas' Sun God, who was born as humble Nanahuatzin but whose sacrifice made him the powerful sun god of the fifth Sun Era and renewed the world. Upon his transformation, however, Tonatiuh, as powerful as he became, asked for sacrifices from other deities to keep the sun moving, and those ceremonial sacrifices still happened during the age of the Mexicas to keep the world (and the current power structure) in feet.

Resistance from such decision, however, happened, as the lord of the Morning Star, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, attempted killing him. Failing, though, he instead was shot by Tonatiuh and thrown away, becoming Itztlacoliuhqui-Ixquimilli the god of frost, cold, ice and 'blind-folded justice'.
