Origin of Dawn Picture

One of two major projects from when I took Printmaking during Winter term; the prompt was to do a linoleum-cut print with subject matter inspired by mythology.

Just a few days before receiving the assignment, I'd been reading about Japanese mythology, so I decided to go with that, specifically one of the stories about Amaterasu, the sun goddess, having hidden herself away in a cave following a fight with her brother Susanoo, being coaxed out by the other gods, and emerging from the cave brings forth the sunlight once again, creating what is knows from then on as Dawn.

Fun fact: I almost gave her wolf ears, alluding to her wolf form as seen in the game Okami, but I wanted to make this less fanart-y and a bit more original.
