Icarus: Too close to the sun Picture

Icarus' father made him wings with wax. His father warned him not to get too close to the sun. He did, and the wax on his wings melted. Icarus plummeted back to earth and died.

Jay Guthrie codenamed himself Icarus because he believed he had gotten too close to the sun. In many ways, he was like the boy from Greek mythology.

I got some new metallic colored pencils and a skin-tone prismacolor marker to incorporate into my drawings. I had way too much fun with the shiny colors. The gauntlets with chains don't exactly fit with the Icarus myth, but they looked good and sybolised how Jay felt so stuck. Other materials: Uniball pen, tracing paper over original sketch, Prismacolor colored pencils.
