Huitzilopochtli Picture

An interpretation of Huitzilopochtli, the patron of Mexico/Tenochtitlán and god of war, younger son of Coatlicue.
Huitzilopochtli is the main god of the Mexica and a major figure in Ancient Mexican Cosmology, where besides the one who killed the Centzonhuitznahua and Coyolxauhqui, he's also one of the four Tezcatlipoca, and in some accounts, the Sun God.

Huitzilopochtli's weapon is the Xiuhcoatl ('Fire Serpent' in nahuatl), and is sometimes equaled to thunder. History has it that Huitzilopochtli himself led Tenoch to guide the Mexicas to found Tenochtitlán, pointing out that they should found their nation when they found an eagle devouring a snake atop a cactus growing on a rock above the lake.
