Dark Little Cherub

This is from a graveyard shoot with a brother of mine.
The sun was going down.
There wasn't much daylight left.
Waiting patiently was this dark little cherub.

A guardian for the doctor.
Grieving for eternity.
Staring to the heavens and languishing in prayer.

I have often wondered why these cherubs fascinate me.
I believe it is because they are like children.
They are in a stasis, forever trapped.
Perpetually angelic yet stoic, distant, and cold.

Forever children and forever stone.
