Kephri Picture

I got this tattoo back in August. A friend of mine who just finished his apprenticeship did it.

My god did it HURT!!! It took about 4 1/2 hours to complete.

I chose the scarab beetle for it's symbolism. In Egyptian mythology, the scarab was a self-creating god Kephri or "one who comes from the earth". In mythology, Kephri, the scarab, was responsible for rolling the sun across the sky every day and thus was also seen as a version of Ra, the sun god.

He's often used to represent transformation and in my case, I identify with the scarab as a symbol for change and self transformation and getting this tattoo was as much celebration of how I've grown and matured over the last 3 years but all the shit I've been thru too.
