Sirin Picture

The last of the legendary birds of Russia, this is Sirin. Sometimes pronounced Silin. Her feathers are black and white. Like her greek counterparts, the Sirens, she sings a song so beautiful that all who hear it become enthralled and follow the song until they die. Because of this people are said to have thrown rocks at her when she starts singing so that others did not get trapped by her.

She represents the inner muse and the voice of inspiration in all of existence. Her song inspires others to create and to change and discover new places until their death.

Made for my summer contract on Russian Mythology and Neo-Paganism.
