Deviants, the thought of England & the mythology of England are very important to me.

Punk happened there. That nation, as near as I can tell, invented the kind of wit I hold dearest.

They do not, of course, hold all of history's greats (and Colonialism piled quite enough atrocities onto England's charge-sheet to balance those that the island did produce) but when looking with admiration at those greats it is through an English cultural lense that I view them.

You have, I assume, heard of certain people having a nigh-unalterable mental age (or an agelessness of character). I wonder if it's possible to be a cultural expatriate without having even visited a place. If so, it is a common condition amongst the intellectuals of Australia.

One day I will reach London.
