Janus Geminus Picture

"In Roman mythology, Janus was the god of gates, doors, doorways, beginnings, and endings. The month of January was named for him. He was usually depicted as Janus Geminus (twin Janus) or Bifrons, with two faces looking in opposite directions. In some places he was Janus Quadrifrons (the four-faced). He was associated with Etruscan Ani (Etruscan divinity).

Symbolism: the god of change and transitions such as the progression of past to future, of one condition to another, of one vision to another, and of one universe to another."
