And So I Got My First Tattoo.. Picture

Yup. I thought about getting it for a long time. Butterflies are a bit overused in tattoo art but I've always loved them. I must have had at least three of those butterfly houses when I was little. I just loved how they started out as little caterpillars and became beautiful butterflies.
There are reasons for the tattoo other than my silly childhood story. My mom has a butterfly on each of her ankles. So butterflies remind me of her and myself...
The last reason is symbolism. I did a lot of reasearch and stuff before I even stepped in the shop. They often represent transition through life and sometimes faith. I looked for symbolism on various sites and this is the answer I got:
"We are all small and appear to be the same(like the catapillar), but as we grow older our true beauty shows (like the butterfly). Like a butterfly, we are all different, and beautiful in our own way. In the Christian religion, the metamorphosis a butterfly undergoes is symbolic of the spiritual evolution all Christains go through. In ancient mythology, the butterfly stands for wisdom and everlating knowledge."
In short, to me it represents my transition into adulthood as well as all the changes taking place right now and faith that everything will be okay.
Well, that's enough rambling from me...
Oh, the butterfly is on my left shoulder blade and I got it done at Revolution Ink in Pelham, AL. (:
