Canute and his Realm Picture

Canute, originaly a Viking invader to the British isles, became king of most of Britannia and the Norway/Sweden coast. He is famous within British and Norse mythology as he was said to have claimed dominion over not only his land, but the ses and heavens as well. Supposedly he had his throne placed into the surf where he sat, day and night, to watch over his kingdom. The song "If I Ever Loose My Faith" by ex-Police member Sting was partially based upon this myth. Canute springs up all over in popular culture, but it often isn't obvious.
