Athena Picture

"They told her to sit like a lady. They told her to keep her fingernails clean.
They told her those thoughts she shared-- that sort of ugliness had no place coming from such a lovely girl.

She tried to keep it in, but it gave her a headache. It got worse every time.
And one day, when they told her that pretty girls shouldn't use that kind of language, (what kind of awful books had she been reading lately??) it finally hatched.

Her skull popped right open, it crawled out, and it made sure that no one ever told her what a lady was supposed to do again."

She fits into a precisely 6" x 6" space on the wall (as per the gallery instructions where she was displayed)
Materials: wire, resin clay, toothpicks, felt, glass eyes, layers of various tissue-thin papers.
