Vos Obliviscar - Autumn/Winter Collection 2013/14 Picture

My Autumn/Winter collection made for the final assignment of my fourth and final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design at the Whitecliffe College of Art and Design, NZ.
Presented at the Whitecliffe Student Fashion Show on 23 November, 2013.

Photo taken outside the Viaduct Events Centre, where the fashion show took place.

Materials used: Wool blend suitings and coatings, brushed cotton, polyester and cotton/viscose knits, faux fur, silk lining; anodised aluminium rings, enamelled copper wire; cow bone and boar tusk toggles; satin cord, bias binding and ribbon.

For this assignment, we had to choose a concept or theme, design a 7-9 outfit collection, make said collection, and send it down the runway at the end-of-year Whitecliffe Student Fashion Show. We are marked not only on the design and construction of the garments, but also on the theoretical thinking behind our concept, and on how we present our part in the fashion show (how we style the models' hair and makeup, our chosen shoes and accessories, and also on the selected music).

My concept began with research into the history and mythology of the early Medieval Anglo-Saxon and Scottish Celtic peoples. It developed into how history has become changed or corrupted over time by people misinterpreting or intentionally misleading the understanding of different cultural systems of belief.
