Princess of Crete Picture

...who's heart was broken.

In Greek mythology, Ariadne was the princess of Crete. She fell in love with Thesis, a son of Poseidon. She gave him a string to travel through her father's labyrinth, without being lost. He promised to marry her, but when she came to run off with him, he abandoned her. Dionysus fell in love with her, and healed her broken heart. When she died, when she was killed by Perseus, Dionysus traveled to the underworld and retreived her soul. He then married her and made her his immortal wife on olympus.

When Emily was at my house this weekend (and nearly every day this week) helping me paint my bedroom (to look like the Poseidon cabin) I made her wear my halloween costume. She was given a crown by my neighbors holding a garage sale a week ago, and hardly takes it off. And so we took this picture. The green thing is a wall ornament, but we're using it as a sheild.
