Yay Snake-Hair Picture

More mythological fun. This time, we've got Medusa!

One of the Gorgons, and the only one who was mortal. Her gaze could turn whoever she looked upon to stone. There is a particular myth in which Medusa was originally a beautiful maiden. She desecrated Athena's temple by lying there with Poseidon. Outraged, Athena turned Medusa's hair into living snakes.

Medusa was killed by the hero Perseus with the help of Athena and Hermes. He killed her by cutting of her head and gave it to Athena, who placed it in the center of her Aegis, which she wore over her breastplate.

From Medusa's dead body the giant Chrysaor and the winged horse Pegasus, her son by Poseidon, sprang forth.

There was this weird show they used to show a looong time ago on Toonami on Cartoon Network, back when it first got started. I don't remember anything about it except it was about these kids who had to travel into some cyber-world, and when they went in there it was in 3D. Anyway, I didn't watch it unless I had nothing else to do, and all I remember is that there was one episode where there was Medusa in the cyber-world, and she turned the kids to stone or something, and I just thought it was the scariest thing ever. For that reason, I was really scared of Medusa for years when I heard her mentioned. Anyone have any clue what I'm talking about? XD I probably sound crazy.

Anyway, now I think Medusa is cool. Snake hair! Yay!
