Cassiopeia Picture

Hello everyone,

my name is Daniel Schuck, I am 23 years old and I work as a grapic designer for a music company in germany. This is my first submission here and I really hope you like it ^_^

Took me quite some time to get this one ready, usually I paint parts as a greyscale and color/texture them then. I was always very afraid of painting the human body cuz my pencil sketches always looked extremely noobish :->

Anyway, heres my first real try at human anatomy. I love the work of H.R.Giger and dark artwork in common.

The story of the image is based on ancient greek mythology. Cassiopeia was the wife of the ethiopian king Kepheus and mother of Andromeda. Cassiopeia caught the wrath of the gods by claiming that her beauty exeeded those of the nereides, daughters of the watergod Nereus. Poseidon then sent an enormous beast then to wreak havoc on the land. The curse could only be undone if Andromeda was sacrificed to the beast.

I tryed to capture Cassiopeias vanity by placing her in the middle of the image and wrapping her in golden armour. Her minions (who are supposed to look like a part of her) are looking in all directions, which shall picture that cassiopeia is aware of everything around her. Still her eyes look straight foreward, ignoring, convinced that her beauty stands above everything else.

The picture is part 1 of my "7 deadly sins" line of artwoks and represents "pride". Original size 7087x4961 px.

I will post more of my works as soon as I find some time. Currently I am very busy with my final examen.

c&c very welcome

sorry for my bad english
