The Bakunawa and the Ouroboros Picture

The bakunawa is a huge dragon that is from the Philippine mythology, resembling a sea serpent. It is believed to be the cause of eclipses by rising out from the sea and then consuming the moon at certain occasions. Some say it used to have a sister, which is a sea turtle. She was killed but her eggs remained as the islands until today.

The ouroboros is a supposed Greek symbol of a dragon or a serpent eating its own tail. Its symbolism is self-reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something continuing to re-creating itself, the eternal return, and other things. This can also apply to inextinguishable forces or qualities.
