Midgard Picture

The Midgard serpent (also called Jormungandr, which is the dragon that encircles the world, or Oroboros, the snake with its tail in its mouth).

According to Norse mythology, this serpent was one of the three children of Loki. Supposedly it was growing at such an enormous rate that to get rid of it, the gods tossed it in the sea, where it grew so large it looped around the world (Midgard) and wound up with its tail in its mouth.

What the myth never says is if the serpent ever got any larger. I imagine by now it's expanded to the moon, if not the rest of the solar system. 8|
