Vitoria-Regia Picture

The Vitória-Régia legend ~ Brazilian folklore.

"The moon (Jaci) was a goddess who took for yourself the most beautiful virgin natives and transformed them into stars in the firmament. The young warrior of the tribe, Naia, also wanted to be a star, so she roamed the highest mountains, trying to reach the moon. One day, having stopped to rest on the edge of a lake, she saw the image of the moon reflected in the waters. Delighted, she threw herself to the lake bottom and drowned. Jaci, compassionate and wanting to reward her sacrifice, decided to turn Naia into a different star of all those that glow in the sky: a star of the waters (the water lily plant or Vitória-Régia in portuguese)." /sorry my english
