The Spirit of Radio Picture

Original art by Fred J. Edgars, taken from a series of covers he did for Radio Broadcast magazine in the 1920's. I found it such a wonderful example of the way that the art deco style combines the mythological with the industrial that I couldn't help but want to share it. Mercury/Hermes in his guise as an allegory of communication.
"Invisible airwaves crackle with life, bright antenna bristles with the energy."

I did some manipulation with the colors and cleaned it up a little as well.
