Gemini - Zodiac Ephemeris Project Picture

3rd sign of the western zodiac, May 21st to June 20th.

Triplicity: Air

Quadruplicity: Mutable

Ruler: Mercury

The twins of the constellation Gemini are the brothers Castor and Pollux.

Pollux was a son of Zeus, but Castor was mortal. When Castor was killed, Pollux asked Zeus to save his brother, and Zeus offered Pollux the choice of giving his brother half his immortality.

Pollux agreed, and so the brothers spend half their time on Mt. Olympus, and half their time in the underworld.

There are a lot of variations on this particular story. Some researchers think that a tale about two twins, one mortal and one immortal, may date back to a time before the ancestors of the Greek, Roman, and Germanic people came to the European continent.

In the oldest versions of the story, one brother is a man and the other is a horse.

This image is not in the wedge format, because I wound up going out of bounds a little bit. It'll look fine when it's in the wheel with all the others, but I liked the uncut image better so that's the version I'm posting here.
