Obiter Dictum - 3 Picture

March 2010
This series, which I'm using for my senior project, is based on images I see in the shapes and patterns on surfaces I encounter in my everyday life. This was the image (well, one of many) I saw when looking at this floor tile.

After experimenting with a few different images that this tile inspired (a jeering crowd, a four-armed helicopter pilot carrying a snake and setting something on fire, and so on), I settled on this as the most appropriate. I tried to channel a bit of the rendering style of some Balinese drawings my professor showed me, but it doesn't show too strongly.
This one can be viewed as part of a loosely Greek-mythology-themed diptych with the next one, or on its own.
