Chimera 1 Picture

A doodle that resulted from a vocabulary exercise in English class. Most of my classmates didn't know the word "chimerical" and while my teacher knew the word and its origins, he did not know what a "chimera" was. I drew this and several other renditions of this mythological creature as an educational exercise. I most certainly was not avoiding doing my English work... >.>

I took artistic license with the composition of the beast. In Greek mythology, as Wikipedia was kind enough to inform me, "The Chimera or Chimaera was a monstrous fire-breathing female creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of multiple animals: upon the body of a lioness with a tail that ended in a snake's head, the head of a goat arose on her back at the center of her spine. "
