The Chimera Picture

This is an interpretation of the Chimera, the famed beast that was a lion, a goat, and a snake combined, a hide so tough that no weapon could pierce it, and fiery breath. She was said to have terrorized the kingdom of Lycia in Asia Minor before she was killed by the hero Bellerophon, who himself ended up a unknown beggar in a distant country because he dared to think he was equal to Zeus, and thought to ride the winged horse Pegasus up to Olympus.

I tried to make her look somehow more like a creature of nature than she's usually depicted (that is, as a vile beast). It was an interesting experience to draw a famed monster from mythology without the intent of making it look pure evil...
