Midas Leavance- The Accursed Bandit Picture

I have this strange feeling no one's gonna read this because it's so long, orz.

Hey it's J-… Four fingers, odd feet, no clothes, and all body-grown leaves? That's not Jace. However, it is the first guy of the Leavance name to be cursed. If Jace was completely tribal, he'd probably look pretty close to this. Only reason I drew his cursemark was to show where it was after he was cursed. Midas' very character is based around pride and greed. He was also pretty rich and had a fairly big family- excluding his thieving pals.

I chose the name, Midas, because of it's meaning. In Greek, the name Midas means "Turns everything he touched to gold." Now, to Midas, money and gold was the most important thing to him. He couldn't literally turn anything he touched to gold of course, but he certainly wished he could. If it was in his hands, it had to be valuable.

And I also found an interesting bit of info here www.sheknows.com/baby-names/na… that says: "People with this name tend to initiate events, to be leaders rather than followers, with powerful personalities. They tend to be focused on specific goals, experience a wealth of creative new ideas, and have the ability to implement these ideas with efficiency and determination. They tend to be courageous and sometimes aggressive. As unique, creative individuals, they tend to resent authority, and are sometimes stubborn, proud, and impatient."

Holy cow that sounds exactly like him.

The name Midas originated from Greek Mythology's King Midas.

Another thing to note, is that my Midas was alive during a very historic and gruesome time in Termina. There was MUCH more racism and hate, and deku themselves were not cared for much. The body type that Midas has was less common and was considered a gift. Midas was feared by his own people for his rare appearance which ran in his bloodline, and he took advantage of this by becoming a bandit and gathering a small group of thieves, knowing he was capable of what a lot of other deku weren't. He considered himself a powerful leader, and executed plans very well. He was an annoyance to other races, and the Leavance name was not a name looked proudly upon. But because of where he stood and what he was capable of, he pretty much felt like a king and held far too much pride in himself, and his longing for riches could never truly be sated until he could pull off the biggest stunt of them all; steal from Ikana Castle and get away with it. It was then he felt he'd prove just how powerful he really was. Though, he'd only prove how foolish he was instead.

Ikana was currently going through war at this time, and keep in mind that Ikana is pretty much the root of Termina's dark days. Even then, veins of evil pierced through that land- Ikana was destined to fall for it's sinful, bloodshed history. And Midas was far too prideful and greedy to realize this. Midas tried stealing an Ikana relic, when a spirit bound to Ikana caught him and placed a curse on his name and on anyone who carried that name, for all his crimes and wrong-doings.

His ever-so gifted name, was going to be cursed because of his blindness. Many Leavance daughters would die, and many Leavance sons would suffer- for generations.

I really love Midas. Regardless of being related to Jace, he's certainly very different. Though, you can see that his fierceness, stubbornness, leadership, and determination is something that is carried on through the Leavance name. Though, it started out for all the wrong reasons- The Leavance name eventually went from being looked down on and hated to kinda disappearing with time, Jace being the end of the cursed line. Had there not been a curse, there's no telling how Jace would've ended up, or his father for that matter. The curse was placed on Midas as a lesson- a lesson that was certainly felt for years to come.

Midas and the Leavance name belongs to me.
