Golden Horn Picture

Halic, the so-called Goldern Horn, name given by the French adventurist Pierre Loti in the 19th century, referring to a mythological event: Io, passes by the Bosphorus to meet with her lover Zeus. Zeus, afraid of the reaction of his wife Hera, transforms Io into a cattle.

That's why the straits in Istanbul is called Bosphorus ("passage of the cattle"), and Halic bay is called Goldern Horn.
