Yoshitsune Minomoto: one of the celebrated heroes of the Genpai war of Japan's early samurai era.

I recently finished a book set in said time period (roughly 1180) that mixed in a lot of mythology as well- In trigued, I went and studied the fact and legend of the era. It's all fascinating, and Yoshitsune has quite a lot of legend associated with him as well-

The son of a murdered general, Yoshitsune was said to have grown up in a mountain shrine, where he trained with Crow Tengu, the legendary mountan Kami.

He factually aquitted himself incredibly well against the Taira clan in the war, especially for only being 18 at the time, and there persist to be many stories of his daring and skill.
