Mythology: Thor Picture

The son of Odin and the giantess Jord, prince of Asgard, and the Norse god of thunder, storms, battle frenzy, healing, oak trees...and frogs. Thor is without a doubt the most famous of his pantheon, and for good reason. Thor is well-known as the defender of gods and mortals alike. Many are the tales of this hero of heroes' adventures with companions of all sort against the forces of evil. Thor travels in a chariot pulled by two massive goats named Tanngrisni ("tooth-gnasher") and Tanngnost ("tooth grinder").

His weapon is Mjolnir, a hammer forged by the king of the dwarves specifically for him. Though small in size, Mjolnir was forged from the heart of a dying star and is supremely heavy. Only Thor has the strength to lift it. On his hands, Thor wears two gauntlets of solid iron. When he strikes the gauntlets with Mjolnir, it sends out sparks, which we see as lightning! Around his waist is a magic girdle (Get your heads outta the gutter. It's another word for belt.) That DOUBLES his already titanic strength.
