By the foot of Yggdrasil Picture

The Norns are goddeses of fate in Norse mythology. They spin the strings of life, deciding what kind of life every person will have and how long. There are also three particular norns being mentioned, Urd (past), Verdandi (being) and Skuld (what to come). They sit by the roots of the giant world tree Yggdrasil. The story doesn't tell much about them, not even if they're young or old because their faces were always hidden. But the Gods didn't like that they came and settled there, since it meant the Gods themselves would become mortal. These are the norns in my painting.

It's done in aquarelle and guache paint.
