Patupairehe Picture

A Maori fungus spirit famed for stealing livers of household pets, the Patupairehe is a troublesome member of Maori mythology. They purportedly cook the livers in a broil which they then sleep on. An alternative to this theory is that they are building a giant steed out of livers which they will then ride during Ragnarok or Armageddon, whichever comes first. Until then they strut about in fungus pants humming Austrian folk songs and sucking the water out of patches of moss.
