(Norse mythology) Ymir the frost giant Picture

Norse mythology - The Poetic Edda refer to Ymir as a primeval being who was born from venom that dripped from the icy rivers Élivágar and lived in the grassless void of Ginnugagap.

"From Ymir's flesh the earth was formed,
and from his bones the hills,
the heaven from the skull of that ice-cold giant,
and from his blood the sea"

Vafþrúðnismál, Poetic Edda, Benjamin Thorpe translation
