Through Ravens and Songbirds is online! Picture

Through Ravens and Songbirds is a story that I’ve been working on for years. I think the first draft was written up maybe four years ago and I’ve been trying to figure out how to make it work for even longer than that. I’ve tried a bunch of mediums and writing styles, and I finally settled on a sort of… visual story. Kind of a like a webcomic, but with more pictures and less text. It’s not a silent comic, but it relies little on spoken words, especially in the beginning.

I'm really bad at giving it a brief summary, but here goes: It's basically about a mismatched group of (mostly) humanoid aliens trying to survive in a crapsack world where almost everything wants to kill or eat them. To make matters worse, that almost is getting closer to everything each day and no one really knows why.

also there's demons and mythology and magic and fantastic beasts if you like those

If you want to read it, it's here: [link] . Chapter 1 is up, and while not a lot happens in it, think of it as… setting the stage, I guess. More will come with each update, and there’s a section full of info on the world that will also update with each chapter. There’s also a forum if that’s your style, I don’t expect it to get much traffic at all for a while.

HANG ON THOUGH READ THIS BEFORE YOU READ THAT OKAY?

Through Ravens and Songbirds is going to have a lot of graphic content and potentially triggering stuff. Almost all of the story has been planned out, so the content warning built into the site reflects a lot of that. Here’s a quick list if you don’t want to go to the site to check (there’s a little more here than there is on the site)

Blood/heavy violence/gore
Death
Mild-moderate sexual content (very little onscreen stuff)
Moderate-heavy swears
Monsters
Cannibalism
There will be a brief instance of rape in a chapter in the far future (late/end of act 2)
Body horror due to said monsters
It’s also not a happy story at all
I’m sorry

But if you’re still cool with that and wouldn’t mind reading the story despite that, feel free to check it out. c:
