Um, for the rest, it's hard to say because the rest is a mumbo jumbo. Constantly switching back and forth. No exact reference photo used for the rest of the drawing.


Oh yeah, the image on the left looks slightly more washed out then on the right 'cause when of the lighting when I was taking a photograph of the drawing... and the washed-out look on the left corner is actually darker but again, it's due to the lighting when I took the photograph. x_o

I had (randomly) picked the words "trust" and "patient," and therefore, I had to "use those words as a platform for the drawing." The drawing itself did not have to be a representation of trust or patience, and most definitely not a symbol of the words that we had gotten (ex: no peace symbols for peace). The drawing had to stand alone as its own drawing, and speak for itself. Much freedom was granted: the method of drawing, and the genre: abstract, realism, surreal, etc. It was to be an original drawing.

I had a lot of trouble with this drawing... The intricacy of the abstract shapes of the hands and toes, and the figures overall... Also, one of the most difficult parts was coming up with the outline of what I wanted to draw. I initially thought I knew what I had wanted but the idea is always different from the way I envision it in my head as opposed to the physical drawing. Drawing this piece was like drawing 30 different drawings within a drawing, and it has evolved considerably from where I first started. For one, the piece was supposed to be a realistic and romantic, but instead, became realistic-fantasy. I kept the important element of physical contact though-- the hands. The exchange of trust and patience.

I looked at a many different reference photos in order to piece together the image of what I wanted to create. The reference photos were basically for the figures though, and the rest of the scenery was pretty simple; no reference really necessary. The reference photos I looked at helped to inspire me and I found myself borrowing some elements from those photos... the way the lighting broke apart against stone tiles, etc.

A lot of uncertainty throughout the whole process. This drawing itself felt like it was really a test of trust and patience.
