Nausicaa Picture

Miyazaki Hayao-dono's Nausicaa, from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. More from the manga, which is much more of a complete vision and better than the movie.

I did this a few years ago back when Animerica was a proper independent magazine. One month their contest was to put characters in traditional Japanese dress, and I decided to enter (I think the prize might have been copic markers? I had some motivator.). I chose Nausicaa, in large part because her character is inspired by the Japanese semi-mythological figure "The Princess Who Loved Vermin[i.e. insects]." I didn't get in, probably because I sent it in at the last minute. Still, it wasn't bad.
