Siren Before The Storm Picture

11x14 colored pencil drawing.

In Greek mythology, the Sirens were dangerous creatures, portrayed as Femme fatales who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island.

This is one of the few pieces I've done where the ENTIRE sheet is covered. What can I say, backgrounds are boring. After stumbling upon various descriptions of Sirens (some being not so pretty, but I may try one out later) I figured I'd go with the classical depiction of something like a mermaid and throw in some feathers. All the descriptions I found said Sirens had wings instead of arms, but I toned that down a little. And since I'm a bit obsessed with drawing birds and mermaids right now, I got the best of both worlds.
