Random Gods - Thor Picture

Well, this guy's pretty popular lately: Thor, the god of the storm. His name pretty much means 'thunder'. Go figure. Despite the Marvel comic's depiction, he was always described as a red-head in the ancient Eddas, the Norse books of mythology. His famous hammer's shaft was too short, because the dwarves couldn't fully complete it. He had to use special gloves to wield his hammer as a lightning bolt, used to strike down his enemies. He also had a power-enhancing belt. On his forehead was a scar from Hrungir's whetstone.
Despite his resemblance to Zeus, he wasn't the king of the gods. That position was reserved for his father, Odin.
