Wandjina Spirits Picture

These are Wandjina/Wondjina, figures from Australian mythology. To the believer, they are ancient water spirits who descended from the sky to teach man some nifty things and to give him water. Then, they knew they were dying, so they descended into the Earth to die. They left instructions, however, to paint figures of themselves, so that in times of drought all a shaman had to do is journey to their portrait and ask for water.
To the Ancient Astronaut theorist, these represent Aliens that created mankind.
No matter who is right, they're some of my favorite things to draw. They were made on cardstock paper with a 0.05 Pigma Micron pen, 0.3 Pigma Micron Pen, and a Faber-Castell brush pen.
