Mythology Project - Xeng Picture

Fourth(really fifth) in the series: Xeng. (I am in love with the contrast of this picture. I's my favorite of the series)

Xeng is Mongolian and Irish, with a tad Chinese.

I couldn't find any good Mongolian creatures that fir him, so I went with a legend instead. This picture is based off the Mongolian legend of Erkhii mergen, a legendary archer who tried to shoot down the seven suns, but missed his goal by one. ([link])

His reptilian features are based on the Irish Alp-luachra, a fairy that turns into a newt to crawl down people's throats and steal the food they had eaten. ([link])

Project Description
The mythology project is something I did for the concentration portion of my AP Art portfolio. Devil's Parliament is a story of cultural and personal diversity in an era of strict social barriers. Each of my characters is of uncommonly mixed races; and each has his or her own distinct personality. After some research, I decided to integrate creatures/figures from the mythology of each character's cultures into the characters themselves to portray not only their heritage but their own unique personas.
