Mythology Project - Rebec Picture

Second in the series: Rebec

Rebec is a mixture of various Germanic descents, including prussian(with is still a country in their world).

He is depicted as an Alp, a vampiric creature from Germanic folklore. Alps are said to attack their victims only at night, controlling dreams and creating vicious nightmares. They also wear a magical hat and a cloak of invisibility; and can change into a white butterfly, among other things. ([link]) The Alp seemed perfect for Rebec because of the constant nightmares he has about his dead mother.

The costly wolf thingy is a Gytrash from Northern English legend, a ghostly canine that haunts roads waiting to either lead eople astray or down the right road. ([link])

Project Description
The mythology project is something I did for the concentration portion of my AP Art portfolio. Devil's Parliament is a story of cultural and personal diversity in an era of strict social barriers. Each of my characters is of uncommonly mixed races; and each has his or her own distinct personality. After some research, I decided to integrate creatures/figures from the mythology of each character's cultures into the characters themselves to portray not only their heritage but their own unique personas.
