Bestial: Wendigo Picture

My fascination with bestiaries is not new, but recently I've started drawing creatures with the illustrations of the medieval bestiaries in mind. There are a lot of gorgeous pictures here, and more lovely pictures as well as a ton of background info here.

This little critter is the Wendigo. This batch of three (Wendigo, Cerberus, Dark Ladies) are all creatures to do with death.

The Wendigo is a spirit of hunger and cannibalism. I decides to make him pretty starved-looking, but it didn't all turn out so awesome. I also gave him little hair tufts because it's visually pleasing and I didn't feel like drawing a penis. His little hair... wisps are for purely aesthetic reasons too. The severed arm is there for a snack.

See my journal for a full list of all creatures.
