Class: 3D Process (Foundation Sculpture Class)
Purpose: To make a wearable sculpture that represents an existential idea.
My idea stems from costuming and cosplay conventions. When at conventions it is common to hear people's opinions of different costumes, costume types, and cosplayers themselves. I wanted to make the abstract idea of an opinion physical. When the cervitaur was finished, I went to the central spot on campus and asked people to write their honest opinions down on a sticky note and stick it anywhere on the body. Some of the opinions I got were:
"It exists." "That's cool!" "Awesome!" "Creative!" "I'm very confused right now." "Dat a$$." "The tail is cute." "Why would anyone do this?" "I'm sorry." "500 points to Gryffindor!" "By far the best cardboard centaur in Maryland." "Reminds me Chiron from Greek mythology." That last comment came from a 7-year-old. I was so impressed!
