Alphabeastiary C- Chimera Picture


The Chimera is a Greek monster with the head of a lion, a goat and a snake (for the tail). Said to spit poison at one end and flames at the other she/he is not be trifled with.

The most famous Chimera was the child of Typhon and Echidna, and was killed by the warrior Bellerophon (with some help from Pegasus). Many different versions of the Chimera have appeared in Greek art and literature.
