Stoa of Attalos 18 Picture

The base of an ancient dedication.

A series of the Stoa of Attalos, from the ancient Agora in Athens. Some of my favorite pictures I took while in Greece.

The original Stoa was built in the 2nd Century BC by a certain King Attalos of Pergamon. It did not survive in such a perfect condition as you will find it today. You see, the American School of Classical Studies in Athens lost its mind a few decades ago, and decided to rebuild the thing. It now houses the Agora museum, and looms large over the meager remains of the Agora that still remain. Of course, I think, why stop here? Rebuild it all!
