Amazons on a sarchophage Picture

A marble Roman Imperial peripd sarchophage in Kutahya Archaeological Museum, Turkey. Actually I did not intend this photo as an art work of my own at all. It is just a snapshot. The art here is that of the sculpturer who carved a marble block to create this fantastic imagery.

The scene shows Amazons fighting with the Greeks. The Greek Hero Heracles (or in the other version Theseus) has stolen a magical belt from the queen of the Amazons. This is of course interpreted as a mythological rape incident by modern sociologists who claim that the belt here symbolizes virginity... So Amazons who lived on the northern coast of Turkey gather forces and attack Athens for their revenge...
