Dionysus and Ariadne Picture

I don't normally go for romantic scenes, but I felt partial to this one. The story behind it is Thesus and the Minotaur, which I'm sure those of you interested in Greek mythology will be familiar with. Ariadne is the daughter of Minos who helps Thesus kill the monster, and he takes her aboard his ship for the journey back to his home. Along the way, however, he dumps her on a desert island. Ariadne is broken-hearted and apparently doomed, but then along comes Dionysus, god of wine and frenzy and drama, who falls in love with this beautiful woman and rescues her from the island. Thus, for once a Greek tale has a happily ever after.
