Ambrosial Palette Picture

Ambrosial is a lovely word. According to the dictionary it means ‘exceptionally pleasing to taste or smell; especially delicious or fragrant’, or ‘worthy of the gods; divine’. Both meanings derive from Greek mythology as ambrosia was the food or drink of the Greek gods or demigods, bestowing them with ageless immortality when consumed.

The four classical elements – earth, water, fire and air – which are the most basic representations of fundamental principles surround the mushroom, proudly erected in the middle of a desert. It is therefore not only the unusual appearance but also its placement that inspire the question on whether it is a mushroom or rather a shroom (magic mushroom), which in that case symbolizes a hallucination – something that isn’t really there.
