James and Bio-WIP Picture

I found the picture! I had scanned it, but when I shut off my comp yesterday, it got rid of all the folders I had open and I forgot to look for it. The info is still a WIP though.

Got the character dev. thing from tumblr, I'll find the link to credit.

30 Days of Character Development

Name: James Poppatheodore
Nickname: Rainbow Bright (courtesy of Miss Crow)
Species: half minotaur/human
Date of Birth: (Scorpio)
Age: 26
Height: 6'2

1.) Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
James’s relationship with his mother wasn’t exactly good, but it wasn’t bad either. Thing is, if he hadn’t tried being a good son through his younger years and preteens, he wouldn’t even remember her name. His father left his mother before James was born, so she was a single parent and he grew up in an already broken home. He was neglected more than anything, but his mother did hit him on vary rare occasions when she was drunk. No, his mother passed away from kidney failure when he was 19. Even so, he probably wouldn’t have a good relationship with her. She wasn’t talkative and kept to herself, got very drunk and would lash out when angered. If she was still alive, he would only visit out of the slight pity that surprisingly exists for only her.

2.) What are your characters most prominent physical features?
Besides the bull horns, bull legs from just below his knees down, etc…his freckles. He’s covered in them. Partly genetics, partly from being outside most his childhood and even throughout his teenage years.

3.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
I haven’t really thought about it, but James would have scars. He was neglected and bullied as a child, was involved with gangs as a teen, sold/sells drugs, and is involved with trafficking people. He’s bound to have a few scars. So, he has one scar on his right shoulder blade where he was hit over the back with a glass bottle during a gang fight and it never healed. He has another just above his pelvic bone where he was stabbed by a homeless kid that he was trying to trick into coming with him. He was going to move them into the trafficking, but the kid knew what he was trying to do and fought back, he also has a few scars from being shot, but I’ll have to draw a character sheet. Throughout time he’s had others from being beaten, the one from his suicide attempt, and various other scars that have all healed.

4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
James is very vain and finds himself quite attractive, but not to the point he’s openly a douche about it(he is a douche). Not to say he isn’t attractive, it depends on your opinion. He’s very tall and lanky, but does have slight muscles.

5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale?
Heterosexual. With women he feels he has control, more so than if he found a weak male to bother, because he kind of is a weak male. He targets young, small women with certain features, which I need to think about…they most often have long hair so he’ll have something to grab, and if they fight back or are stronger, he chickens out because he’s kind of a wuss. But being in the trafficking business, he’ll go after anyone he sees as a target, which can include large men.

6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.
That depends on your definition of happy…in a normal person’s terms, it would be when his mother wasn’t drunk, they would dance around to music on an old record, mostly 70’s music, until she decided to ignore him again. His definition of happy would be when he murders women and what he considers the ‘perfect way’, which I haven’t thoroughly thought about. He enjoys many things and has many morbid hobbies, but isn’t truly happy as he was or is than with the ones I stated.

7.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
That would probably include his past itself. He hates pretty much his whole childhood and teen years. But speaking specifically, when he attempted suicide. It’s an egotistical thing. He doesn’t regret kidnapping, killing, or anything sadistic he’s done to others, but when it concerns himself he has problems. He regrets his past, but doesn’t like to admit it, so when people know about his suicide attempt, they know that too and he doesn’t want anybody knowing he regrets those kinds of things.

8.) Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
Ice cream flavor:

9.) Who does your character trust?
Only himself, and even then there are doubts. He has lackeys in the trafficking business, but he’d give them up without a second thought if it meant saving his own hide.

10.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.
When my friend’s character shows up. Before him, James felt he had complete control of everyone, everything, the very city itself, and now he feels everything is spiraling out of control and he’s losing his mind even more, which is saying a lot.

11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?
He’s part minotaur, so you’d think bull, but he’s far from one. He’d probably be more like a fox or cat. Cunning, sly, stalks its prey, lanky and fast. When he knows he’s overpowered, he makes a run for it and doesn’t stick around to uphold honor or anything like that…nope, he does that when he comes back with 20 or so men and a bunch of guns.

12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
Average, I suppose. He’s not around technology all of the time, so he’s not like a super techno guy, but he knows the basic stuff. Definitely email. He doesn’t feel he has the time for letters, emails are fast and effective and gets him what he wants faster.

13.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
The covers are always everywhere. He never takes the time to fix them and he’s a very restless sleeper, so usually sprawled everywhere and so are they.

14.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?
15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?
A night owl, he gets business done a lot quicker during the night because people aren’t able to see and report him or anyone in his business to the police. They’re also able to spot cop cars easier, because of slowed traffic.

16.) Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative?
Besides his mother, who passed when he was 19, he knows of no relatives at all. Probably in their best interest not to know him.

17.) What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?

18.) Is your character a good cook? What’s their favorite recipe, whether they’re good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.)
James is a horrible cook, so he mostly sticks to easy things to microwave, stealing, or having others cook for him(which is very rare)

19.) What’s your character’s preferred means of travel?
Walking, cars often make him feel cramped, held down and slightly claustrophobic, and are slow because of traffic and James’s extreme impatience.

20.) Does your character have any irrational fears?
Claustrophobia and not being in control. There’s no real reason other than the fact he has to feel in control because of his ego, which may be because of his childhood.

21.) What would your character’s cutie mark be?

22.) If your character could time travel, where would they go?

23.) Is your character superstitious?
In this universe mythological beasts exist as an everyday thing, so just because he sees ‘weird’ things doesn’t mean it makes him believe. So, no.

24.) What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?
Someone he can beat and smack around and they’ll still do whatever he wants them to.

25.) Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?
James has large, long , boney hands. They’re smooth on the top but calloused on the bottom from his type of work.

26.) Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday.

27.) Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them.

28.) If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be?

29.) How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne?
Mostly like drugs, dirt, sometimes cheap cologne, and animal because he works around drugs, mythological beasts being sold in the black market and the fact he IS half minotaur.

30.) And finally: Write a letter to your character, from yourself.
Hello James,
You don’t know me, but I know plenty about you. You’re seriously messed up dude who’s probably going to die a horrible, lonely death. But I’m sure you like it that way.

Other things about James:

James’s mother was a single parent and raised him on her own. Often times she wasn’t particularly mean, but would neglect him and leave him to fend for himself around the age of seven and older. She wouldn’t play or bond with him like most mothers do their children. But, James’s fondest memories, which bring him to tears if he thinks about it too much, are of his mother and he dancing and singing to 70’s music when she wasn’t drunk or with a hangover. He was always a mischievous child, seeing as he was never taught right or wrong properly. Terrorizing cats and dogs, which eventually progressed to killing and torturing them, often became James’s main form of entertainment. He also enjoyed various other forms of troublemaking, like setting fires in his neighborhood.
James’s only form of actual education was school and occasionally TV. In school he didn’t have many friends, but wasn’t bullied either. With little or no socialization at school and at home, he had to learn on his own. Even on his own he became smarter than most kids his age, but never used this intelligence in the proper way. Instead, he used it for his own self gain or not even to it’s full potential. He became cruel and manipulative
For a short time during his teenage years he tried forgetting his past and family, doing drugs and even attempting suicide once. He tried new families like gangs and living with a girlfriend once…once. But nothing worked for him. Around the age of nineteen James got even more involved with drugs and gangs. He was arrested for assaulting many girls his age and older women and for dug abuse, but was not actually charged because the police pitied him for his childhood. He got smarter and changed strategies, going for young naive girls. This tactic started out as merely assaults of groping, but progressed to rape and kidnapping. This eventually became kidnapping, rape, murder and who James is today. Now, overly happy and willing to help, James is rarely suspected until it is too late for his victims.

Various characteristics of James:

-Coward when it comes to fighting
-Agile in running away
-Victims are usually weaker
-Did I mention he’s a coward?
-Good at hiding his emotions
-James is a very, very bad man
-If the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" had an image, he'd be it...in a bad way, of course!
