'The Stare' Picture
A painting of the Brazilian Formula One racing driver Ayrton Senna, who won the F1 world championship three times before his death at age 34. Quite simply, the greatest racing driver to have graced this earth. I have tried to capture his character through his eyes in this painting. No color was needed as I felt that you gained his identity through the stare. He became mythological in my small world when he was racing and his death affected me greatly. He remains the last driver fatality in Formula One. He has been voted the best driver of all time in various motorsport polls, including F1 Racing Magazine's 2004 poll and one involving current drivers as published by the German newspaper 'Bild am Sonntag' in July 2010. There will be many more paintings of him to come.
