Prayer to Persephone Picture

This was a birthday present painted for my sister's 24th birthday this summer! She'd written a novel based upon Hades and Persephone of Greek legend. Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote a poem that helped inspire my sister's novel, and, eventually, this painting. The poem is:

Prayer to Persephone

Be to her, Persephone
All the things I might not be.
Take her head upon your knee.
She that was so proud and wild.
Flippant, arrogant and free.
She that had no need of me is a little lonely child
Lost in Hell.
Take her head upon your knee.
Say to her, "My dear, my dear-
It is not so dreadful here.

That poem is also written on the finished painting. It's 18 x 24, and done on canvas with acrylic.
