Music - Song of Pan Picture

This is a song that I wrote the music and lyrics for back in 1980. It was published in the An Tir Songbook, by a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) on the West coast of the USA.

Last year, I found a copy of the song had migrated all the way to Germany, where it had been added to a web archive of songs popular with live action roleplaying groups over there. (With full credit still given to me!)

The .jpg file has the sheet music. Here's the lyrics.

Song of Pan, Copyright © 1980 by Jay B. Brandt

Oh, I say have ye heard of the Godling called Pan,
he lives in the forest, he looks like a man.
With the horns of a goat and a man's beard too,
when he's in the forest he's seen by few.
I say have ye heard of the Godling called Pan,
he lives in the forest, he looks like a man.

Now the Godling called Pan loved the nymph named Srynx,
and chased her about for to mate like two minks.
But she hid in the reeds to escape his lust,
and he cried "I'll have ye this way if I must!".
So he transformed her into his pipe o' five reeds,
and Srynx now sees to all his musical needs.

Now the Godling called Pan is a merry Faun.
He lives for the day and laughs all day long.
With the legs of a goat and a goat's tail too,
he's there right behind ye, he's looking at you!
I say have ye heard of the Godling called Pan,
he lives in the forest, he looks like a man.
